Now couldn’t be a better time to make the switch from old to new. The Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association of Canada (HPBAC) has introduced the Ottawa Wood Burning Changeout Program with funding from the City of Ottawa.
This Wood Burning Changeout Program encourages residents living in rural and within the city of Ottawa to swap out their wood stoves, fireplaces and inserts, made before 1992, for a new appliance to receive a rebate of up to $750.
Cash isn’t the only motivator for making the switch to a new appliance. Upgrading your old wood-burning appliance means getting a new appliance that is more energy-efficient, safer and adds the perfect accent piece to your home.
As we all know, Ottawa winters can be brutally cold, and heating your home can get expensive. Newer wood-burning appliances can keep your home warmer for less.
Modern wood-burning appliances burn less fuel to create the same amount of heat, which is better for your wallet.
Additionally, the amount of smoke and emissions your old appliance puts out is bad for the environment.
Newer wood-burning fireplace models can cut emissions by up to 70%, reduce air pollution and greenhouse gasses, and result in cleaner air in and around your home, keeping the environment cleaner.
To save money and improve your air quality, change out your old wood-burning appliances for a new, energy-efficient model.
Smoke in the air is not only bad for the environment, but it’s also bad for your health. Cutting smoke emissions can reduce the risk of heart and lung diseases and result in fewer asthma attacks, bronchitis and other respiratory infections.
