At the request of Herb Lagois of Lagois Drafting and Design, we approached Kim Hammill, Director of Electric Fireplaces at Napoleon, who graciously donated a Napoleon Cinema 29-inch Electric Fireplace. We customized the trim kit and installed the fireplace.

Employees' Choice Awards 2018-19

Employees' Choice Awards 2018-19We are very proud and honoured to be named as one of the winners of the 2018 Employees’ Choice Awards.

This annual competition was organized by the Ottawa Business Journal, the Ottawa Board of Trade and sponsored by Meldrum Horne & Associates. Surveys were conducted by the Best Companies Group.

This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honour the best places of employment in the National Capital Region, benefiting the region’s economy, its work force and businesses. The Employee’s Choice Awards list is made up of a total of 10 companies.

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity;
  • Be a publicly or privately held business;
  • Have a facility in the National Capital Region;
  • Have at least 15 employees working in the National Capital Region;
  • Must be in business a minimum of 1 year.

Organizations from across the region entered the survey process to determine the list of recipients. The survey process consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The scores determined the top organizations and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final rankings.

The recipient companies will be celebrated at cocktail awards reception on Thursday, Dec. 6 at Marshes Golf Club. They will also be profiled in OBJ’s January 2019 issue.

For more information on the Employees’ Choice Awards program, visit and the Ottawa Business Journal where you will find a complete list of all our fellow winners who we would like to congratulate.

Big Green Egg in the News

This past July, Big Green Canada participated in The Village Feast in Souris, PEI.  This is an annual fundraiser spearheaded by Chef Michael Smith for building cookhouses in rural Kenya.

Part of BGE’s contribution was to provide the coal for the open pit barbeques.  In previous years, the charcoal consumption was approximately 700 pounds. In comparison we are happy to say, this year with all factors being the same; approximately half of the amount was required by using Big Green Egg natural lump charcoal.

Big Green Egg Lump Charcoal is ranked one of the favorites among BBQ Pitmasters and Backyard Grillers.
